Guidance Notes for Completing Your Application

Read the eligibility criteria carefully to make sure that you can apply for a category. You will find this on the online application form.

Read all the questions carefully.

There are no word limits on the questions, so you can write as much or as little as you want. But keep your submission concise and only include relevant information that directly supports your entry.


It is not a grammar test – don’t worry about how good your writing skills are – just concentrate on getting your points across.

Use bullet points if that makes it easier for you.

Try not to use jargon – the judges may not know what it means.

Use examples to demonstrate your claims. The use of relevant statistics can also help to highlight your achievements.

The judges are looking for evidence of your passion and enthusiasm, as well as your financial or operational or technical achievements.

Get someone else to read the application before you submit it to make sure you haven’t missed any relevant points.

Don't leave it to the last minute to start your application.

Don’t assume that you cannot win because other companies will have a stronger application than you. Trust yourself, be confident and apply.

You have nothing to lose.

Application

This Award is open to any organisation that can demonstrate that a major change initiative/project that has been implemented within the last two years has had a significant and measurable impact. Have you introduced a new product or entered a new overseas market and seen your revenue grow? Have you revamped your HR policies or salary structures and are now recruiting and retaining staff more easily? Are you delivering more services online and gaining market share? These are some examples of the changes you might have made in your organisation that have measurably improved its performance or made its future more secure.

Your organisation does not have to be based in Fife to apply for this Award, but the project(s) you are seeking recognition for must apply in Fife.

Tell us why you should win

Your online application should demonstrate your project was effectively researched and planned. You will show how you managed it with clear outcomes in mind and how you ensured it delivered the results you wanted. You will show where and how it has made a positive impact. You will demonstrate that you communicated well with staff to explain the changes and get their active participation and support. You will demonstrate that you have learnt lessons that you can apply in the future.
